This program will offer grants of $2,000 for projects that engage high-risk and/or gang-involved youth (ages 12-25) in service to their communities. The goal of this initiative is to design and implement creative service projects that engage such youth in service and develop their capacity for leadership and civic engagement. Funded projects should be co-led by youth and adult allies such as parents, coaches, teachers, etc. A significant portion of the project must take place on National & Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. Community-based groups/organizations, local government agencies, schools, and faith-based groups are eligible to apply. The application deadline is October 12, 2006. Visit the website listed above for more information.
