Mattel Children's Foundation -- Domestic Grantmaking Program
Application Deadline: April 7, 2006
Description: Mattel and the Mattel Children's Foundation are pleased to continue for the second year their Domestic Grantmaking Program. Through this effort, unsolicited applications for funds for organizations benefiting children in need in the United States are accepted, pending the eligibility requirements and guidelines listed on the foundation's Web site. Mattel's philanthropic priorities are:
learning -- increasing access to education for underserved children and, in particular, innovative strategies to promote and address literacy
health -- supporting the physical health and well-being of children, with particular emphasis on promoting healthy, active lifestyles
ability to positively influence students.
Who May Apply: 501(c)(3) public charity organizations. If an organization is a project under a fiscal sponsor, that sponsor must have a valid tax-exempt status. Organizations must serve children in communities within the United States. Organizations must not discriminate against a person or a group on the basis of age, political affiliation, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or religious belief.
Funding Amount: Charitable organizations that demonstrate they directly serve children in need may be eligible for grants between $5,000 and $25,000. Funds may be applied to programs or to general operating costs.

Arts Education
National Endowment for the Arts --Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth
Application Deadline: June 12, 2006
Description: Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth supports projects that help children and youth acquire appreciation, knowledge, and understanding of as well as skills in the arts. Projects must provide participatory learning and engagement of students with skilled artists, teachers, and excellent art.
Who May Apply: Nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations; units of state or local government; and federally recognized tribal communities or tribes may apply. Applicants may be arts organizations, local arts agencies, arts service organizations, local education agencies (school districts), and other organizations that can help advance the goals of NEA.
Funding Amount: An organization may request a grant amount between $5,000 and $150,000. Most grant awards will range from $10,000 to $100,000. Few grants will be awarded below $10,000; grants of $100,000 or more will be made only in rare instances, and only for projects that NEA determines demonstrate exceptional national or regional significance and impact.

Teens and Substance Abuse
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration(SAMHSA) -- Family Centered Substance Abuse TreatmentGrants for Adolescents and Their Families
Application Deadline: March 29, 2006
Description: These grants are designed to address gaps in substance-abuse services and/or to increase the ability of states, units of local government, federally recognized tribes, tribal organizations, and community- and faith-based organizations to help specific populations or geographic areas with serious, emerging substance-abuse problems.
Who May Apply: Eligible applicants are domestic public and private nonprofit entities.
Funding Amount: It is expected that up to $5,200,000 will be available to fund up to seventeen awards in fiscal year 2006. Annual awards are expected to be $300,000 per year in total costs (direct and indirect) for up to three years.

HIV/AIDS
Cable Positive -- Tony Cox Community Fund
Application Deadline: March 10, 2006
Description: Cable Positive's Tony Cox Community Fund is a national grant program that exists to encourage community-based AIDS organizations and cable outlets to partner in joint-community-outreach efforts, or to produce and distribute new, locally focused HIV/AIDS-related programs and public service announcements.
Who May Apply: Funded programs/projects must be completed in conjunction with a local 501(c)(3) and/or an HIV/AIDS organization. This organization can help provide the necessary information regarding HIV/AIDS in the applicant's community. All checks will be made payable to this organization only.
Funding Amount: Cable Positive allocates $100,000 to support two grant cycles each year. Grants are available up to $5,000 for 501(c)(3) organizations, with special consideration given to AIDS service organizations (ASOs) and cable systems and producers partnering with ASOs.
