PreAdmission Workshop: Scholarships, travel & lodging available
Oklahoma Native American EXPORT Center’s Pre-Admission Workshop April 21st & 22nd, 2006 OU Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK
Purpose:
To provide a framework to Native American undergraduates in the application and admission process to our health profession schools.
After attending the workshop, the student will:
· Know what careers are available at each of the individual colleges · Know the admission requirements for the college they are interested in attending · Know what pre-requisite courses they should take in their undergraduate studies in order to be eligible for admission into their specific college
· Learn about financial aid and scholarships available to them for the graduate studies · Know when and how to prepare for the GRE and the MCAT · Hear from a student panel to find out their personal experiences in attending a health profession school. · Know how to apply for the IHS scholarship by completing a mock IHS application
The EXPORT Center will also track these students throughout the remainder of their undergraduate studies and provide assistance where needed.
Who can attend:
25 Native American college sophomores and juniors will be chosen.
When will the workshop take place:
Friday, April 21st and half a day Saturday, April 22nd.
What is the cost of the workshop:
Students who are awarded scholarships will receive mileage reimbursement, lodging (if traveling more than 30 miles to attend), and all meals except for one.
